I want to talk a little about the Krona. The unsung hero of the DE razor world. To my knowledge, it was the only DE razor made by the Schick company. It’s a shame that you just don’t hear a lot about it because it really is a wonderful shaver. It has a long 4″ handle, fat at the bottom and tapering up to the head. The head itself is unusual in that it’s very flat-like and slim and works very well shaving the area underneath your nose and your bottom lip and chin. There were two different models made. The earlier one, which I use, has a chrome twist knob for opening and closing the butterfly doors. The later model, which I gave to my Dad, has a black plastic knob and KRONA is etch into the top of the head.
The first one I got was actually thrown in as a bonus when I bought my Gillette Aristocrat. Lucky for me. My dad’s I found in an antique store in NC. I know sadly that someday( no time soon, I hope), I’ll get it back. And then it’ll mean a lot more to me as it’ll always be the razor that I got my dad reintroduced to wet shaving with.
So if you get a chance, get one. They’re still fairly inexpensive and easy to find. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it if you do.
