Cremo Shave Cream
Cremo is a great addition to the wet shaver or everyday cartridge shavers arsenal of goods. While not meeting every need that I look for in a shaving cream it does deliver in some of the most important area's and for ease of use you really can't get much better. In the world of brushless creams Cremo is in my top list and will remain as my body cream of choice.
Today we are taking a look at one of the more popular brushless shaving creams on the market Cremo Shave Cream. Cremo claims to be an unrivaled slick cream and that thinner is actually better; contrary to our traditional wet shaving mentality. I have used Cremo now for over a year, though not on my face; I use Cremo as a body cream. I find that Cremo is more than adequate to shave the nape of your neck, shoulders, chest or, where ever you really wanted including your face. The face is just not a place I enjoyed using this product as it did not feel “right” to me. Remember What your used to plays a huge role in what would be considered “not right”, I happen to be partial to a brush and soap or, traditional cream. Here is a short breakdown on my four key criteria as well as a lengthy video going over Cremo Brushless cream enjoy and welcome to the other side of shaving cream Cremo !
Cremo is available in a 6 oz. large plastic squeeze tube. Traditionally I am not a fan of tube or creams. Keeping in mind this is a brushless cream a tube makes perfect sense though .The cap closes very tight as you hear in the video, is a thick plastic, and the instructions on the packaging are maybe the best I have seen on any product out there ! The packaging also lists all the ingredients, and is not an organic product and does contain mostly components I could not pronounce which is a huge difference from the artisan soaps that we are inundated with in our traditional wet shaving world. Still as far as Packaging for what the intended purpose is this tube sere the job very well, just be sure to recycle the tube when you done if you can !
I find Cremo to be very single dimensional. I do not say this as a negative as I can pick out the Citrus note with ease. I personally pick up on an orange or tangerine aroma. That is all that is really to say aside than the aroma does linger for a little while longer than your average cream though no more than a half an hour, I am sure your personal body chemistry would take a role here. Sometimes less is more and the single citrus note is more with Cremo, and its intended purpose for my use as a body cream.
Here is where Cremo is the most unusual. On the back of the package in bold letters read “STOP PLEASE READ”. It goes into detail on how Cremo really hangs its hat not on the thickness of lather, cushion, or other attribute aside from slickness or as we call it sometimes glide. Here I must say Cremo does not disappoint. This is some slick, slick stuff ! I have learned as, also is mentioned on the tube thinner lather is often better, and is water activated the more water the better. Just don’t rinse it all off ! I do find that a bit more thickness would from a lather standpoint be beneficial. For the standard cartridge razor I would have zero hesitation, for a DE razor, and definitely a straight razor more depth or, cushion would greatly be preferred as there is absolutely none. In our world of traditional shaving where you are bringing a insanely sharp blade to your skin cushion in my opinion is paramount, and helps the comfort of the overall shave by acting as a buffer between the cream, and your skin. This is a common issue with most brushless creams that are not from a can.
Slickness or, Glide
Here is where Cremo really shines. The Glide Cremo offers is maybe the best on the market either traditional cream or, in this case out of a tube. This is a formulated product that is not artisanal but made from high-tech chemicals that are formulated for this exact purpose. I will say Cremo delivers here, and has never let me down offering an effortless shave though due to the lack of cushion needed to be more careful using traditional shaving gear as the blade is fully exposed increasing the potential of cuts; with a cartridge style razor I would have zero hesitation to go at 100 miles an hour with this cream as the risk is MUCH lower. This is the slickest cream I have used, synthetic or, organic aside the stuff is just excellent in this department.
I hope you enjoy this lengthy yet informative video. I basically go into more depth as to what I have written above, and do a demonstration on my arm itself.
