The brand graphic is nice but the clip-art razor on the side give it a photo-hacked look.
This sample size of the Forge & Foundry Bay Rum Aftershave Gel is fine so far but I suspect it will be difficult to get the last bit out of the rigid container. Maybe a squeeze tube would work better.
The name misled me into thinking I was going to see a translucent gel. What it actually looks like is a typical white aftershave balm. I am not sure what constitutes a “gel”. Forge & Foundry Aftershave Gel is labeled as a Witch Hazel based aftershave, but I did notice some alcohol like burn when I applied it. To be fair, I splashed some Superior 70 bay rum on before hand. I did give it time to dry however. Their website does list alcohol as an ingredient, though only 2%.

I have used some aftershave balms that turn into a white layer on your skin if your hands are when you apply them. I did not experience this with this balm. I would compare it to Nivea Shave Balm for Sensitive Skin. The Forge & Foundry is a little heavier which I liked.
Forge & Foundry Bay Rum has a rather strong scent for a Bay Rum based balm. Lots of bay leaf but also a very strong cedar scent. It took me by surprise but after a few minutes I came to the realization that I LOVE IT!. They also sell a shave soap in Bay Rum that I may just have to try. (Just read the ingredients from their site. It lists Bay Rum, lavender and cedar. Awesome.)
After applying Forge & Foundry my face felt great. very soft and moisturized. What really impressed me was at the end of the day my skin still felt great. This would be a great winter months balm for sure. The ingredients list aloe leaf liquid and shea butter which are natural and clearly are very moisturizing .
Forge & Foundry Bay Rum Aftershave Gel is a great performer and smells amazing. It has quality ingredients and is handmade by a craftsman. The list price of $14 US and $19.60 with shipping for 4 ounces is certainly not on the cheap side, but I think it’s worth it. I am a cheap skate but I would/will shell out the cash to get the full size bottle.
